Teething Troubles

Revised: July 1, 2006

Well it has been online for one day and the server is better than ever. Before I was having problems with stability and disk speed, but now with the new parts everything is working a lot quicker. I finally got all the main services fully working tonight, ftp, pop3 and the like. As with any new instillation there have been some teething troubles but nothing a quick google and forum search hasn’t been able to help fix. At the moment I am working on getting awstats and webalizer to work, got all the backend stuff configured just trying to get apache2 to let me view the stats publicly. Were as before this was a simple choice of setting a few things in the apache2 config file and restarting the service, now they have changed things as both awstats and apache2 have been updated and the structure is slightly different. Its late now and its very, very hot in this room, so im going to call it a night on that front. Im glad to get the email up and running, its now secured using the same sort of set up as gmail does, I don’t know if I shall open ports and use the pop3s and imaps service, or just install a web based email client such as squirrel mail or roundcube…

Im just glad things are back to normal with it all, and that all the websites I host are back up and running with no lost data (its good to backup!) :)
