fluffybunny.com

In the past seven years I have spent a lot of time on the internet and browsed a lot of places. I cant even begin to imagine the number of how many gigabytes I have downloaded, but I'm sure its up in the 500 or so.

From time to time I remember a really good website that I used to visit and go to check it out to see if it is still there. kina-ink is a good example of a website I used to visit daily, and since then I have got back in touch with her and the website is back on my weekly watch list.

Today I remembered fluffybunny.com pretty much a spontanious memory from when Natalie gave me the nickname fluffybunny – wow thats like five years ago. Unfortunatly the site closed down in december 2004 and since then boon the websites owner has "moved on to better things". He states that he can still be got in touch with though the websites domain, although he hasnt listed a contact address or anything that I could use to get in touch with him through. I have tried sending an email to webmaster, the default email address for most websites in the hope that it will somehow get to him. My seccond port of call was the whois entry, but that didn't provide me with any contact details for him, and the domain registra cant release such details (which is a good thing overall, if not unhelpfull to my cause). I emailed the registra back with a request to forward my letter on to the domain registrant. I dont know if they will or not, but if they do it would be very helpfull as I would most probably in that case get a reply back.

My third port of call is the hosting, they have reccords too. However I have yet to establish who the hosting provider is. As far as I can tell fluffybunny.com is hosted on its own dedicated server, as the domain links to the ip, and when the ip is entered into a browser fluffybunny comes up. A good idea would be to find out wether other domains are hosted on that box, as it could be a virtual hosting set up with boon owning the box. In that case I may be able to find any other websites he has created though finding the other websites hosted on that box. A task im not sure is possible to complete but shall research into anyway. If boon owns the box, I need to find the datacenter that its hosted at, so as to ask them to forward a letter to boon in the hope that I can get a reply from him.

Im sure there are a few people out there asking why do all of this, just to send a letter to someone that I dont know, who used to admin a now dead website. Well for one, I would like to get in touch with boon to see what he has been upto, and to find out if he has another website that I could go visit. Other reasons include, because I can, and to prove that it can be done. Im not even doing a full investigation, for that I would be writing letter, letters to the places requesting the enclosed to be forwarded, maybe even chasing them up with phone calls.

I dont have much to go on, all I know is:

  1. The registrants nick name: boon
  2. The domain name: www.fluffybunny.com
  3. The domains IP: 192.220.120.63
  4. The IP appears to be located at: Englewood, Colorado. United States.
  5. The website may be hosted by rapidsite.net
  6. The domain expires on 30-Apr-2007 – deadline for contact.

So there you go, ive done this before – and I got in touch with the guy, which was cool. I hope all goes to plan this time :)
