Dear Israel,
This is my seccond open letter to the people of Isreal. More than 900 Lebanese people have been killed, more than 3,000 people have been wounded and a quarter of the country's population – one million people – have been displaced in the past three weeks due to your countries reckless attack on Lebanon. Only Fifty-five Israelis 19 of which are civilians have been killed, the sides do not balance up. You are supposed to be at war against terrorists, not helpless civilians and defiantly not women and children! I truly can not support such a country that is so reckless in an attack so as to cause so much collateral damage. In the beginning I did think that you were doing the right thing, but now it has become ridiculous, and my dislike of your governments ideals grows with each passing day and each media report of more death in Lebanon. You should cease fire immediately and unconditionally and withdraw your forces from southern lebanon, it may sound stupid in the short run but it will work out best for Israel in the long term.
Right now you are reacting to Hezbollah attacks escalating violence and not even in a smart calculated way. The death and instability you cause in Lebanon will cause a ripple of hate towards Israel across the whole of the middle east and even the rest of the world. This is what Hezbollah want, and you are giving them just that, without them having to do too much. You want to fight against terrorism? Well then stop doing what you are doing now, because all it will aid in accomplishing in the long term is making it easier for them to recruit against you.
The shortsightedness of your campaign astounds me and I am afraid of a third world war being sparked off due to this where we no longer know who the enemy is and simply bomb where we think they are.. killing countless innocents in the process.
Israel is a beautiful country and I would hate to see increased terrorist violence against it as an outcome of your blunders in Lebanon. So please, for the sake of future peace cease fire.
Regards,
Simon.
