British Death Penalty

I just found a good reason for bringing back death penalties as a form of punishment in England. Most notably Human Trafficking and Forced Prostitution, this is something that should have been abolished 200 years ago and we should have strict laws to be feared as a deterrent. I rarely support death as a punishment, however in this case it is the only logical deterrent and way of protecting our society from these scum.

Nope, the death penalty is no deterrent to people like this, thousands of years of human history have proved this. As much as I agree with you that these crimes are abhorrent and reprehensible, I’m really not sure that regressing to mediaeval punishment systems is a way forward.

  2. I do believe that you are right Brett, although it has to be said that capital punishment is an excellent form of deterrent, I believe this to be true for those law abiding and people who flaunt the law. For those who subterfuge the law and deprecate society it wouldn’t mean squat and would therefore make capital punishment worthless as a deterrent and more trouble than it is worth.

With that said the laws currently in place do not seem to be strict enough, from various news sources (but most notably the BBC) these traffickers are getting as little as five years in jail which is unacceptable considering the vast amount of damage they are causing to our society and the deep and troubling mental scars that they cause to the girls they force into prostitution and keep as “virtual prisoners” against their will. These people will never be anything than a stain on our society and there is nothing to stop them from getting out of prison and starting again, more likely than not that is what they will do, due to the type of person they are. It is as a way of protecting our society and future girls from trafficking that I see capitol punishment being a way forward and not a step back as it removes these people from our society and gives possible protection to people whom they could have in the future caused harm to.

It must be noted that I am normally strongly against capitol punishment and I, like you, normally see it as a regression to mediaeval times. A tribute to the fact of how angry these traffickers make me, if even I am willing to place my opinion on the verge of being fascist to make a point.
