Woman Dies in hit with train

March 31st, 2007

Yesterday the London to Ashford International line was shut down for several hours following an incident during which a woman apparently died after walking out infront of a freight train in Maidstone.

I only found out about this from staff at London Victoria after my train was re-routed to a bus service, fortunately however the line was cleared soon after and my train carried on to the destination.

You would have thought however that there would have been something in the news about it, local news even… but I have yet to find anything. Maybe unless one of us dies in a foreign country it’s not deemed newsworthy?

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for – in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it. – Ellen Goodman
