Both the Italian and the British governments must think long and hard about wether a game is really worth the risk of so many citizens lives. 11 Britons taken to hospital, many of whom due to wounds received by “over zealous” Italian police. For the most part I feel the media’s use of “over zealous” to be far too kind towards the Italian police force; brutal, excessive and unnecessary is how I would describe the conflicts between the football supporters and the police. The police where there to keep the peace, not to beat up innocent bystanders, and from the many personal accounts and photos I have seen of the event that is exactly what they where doing, attacking us for no plausible reason, if they where British police they would have been suspended (although most likely on full pay) and investigated. I see no such action being made by the Italian government, nor do I, unfortunate as it is see our, the British government stepping in and demanding an apology. Maybe this is where Iran has it right, I am sure if it where a case of Iran and Italy – yes I could see the Iranian government not standing for it and causing a fuss until an acceptable apology or similar gesture was announced.

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for – in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it. – Ellen Goodman
