Have a Mint
Revised: April 17, 2007I recently installed mint on my server which I must say is definitely worth the $30 it costs to get a licence. With awstats it was difficult to figure out which pages of my website where the most popular as other files I host such as images, videos and sound get a lot more hits than the actual content. This is where mint has come in and made everything really easy to see.
Where as before I would only be able to see that I had 400 or so visitors a day, now I can see which pages they visit, where they come from and how long they stay for. The one thing I do like is that it can tell the difference between key words from web searches and image searches. The disturbing thing is that I get a lot more image search link through’s than I do web searches, this wouldn’t normally be a big issue if it weren’t for the fact that my number one keyword is “top gear” followed closely by “sexy lips”.
Apart from being able to see where visitors have come from, exact visitor and unique visitor count and keywords used the next best feature is the plugins available. I have a couple installed, one which allows me to see stats on internal site search key words and another called “Sparks!“.
Sparks is a simple add on which allows you to see at a glance the highs and lows, as you can see from my screen cap above the past three days have already seen a lot of traffic! It is nice to not only be able to see how much traffic I am receiving, but also from where it is getting here. Mint makes that possible by showing collected data in an easy to understand form, which is also a very pretty one to look at.
If your a blogger and have the resources to hand, I would recommend getting this web app. It’s well worth
