Groundbreaking means innovative
Revised: November 12, 2007I was just linked to this website called freerice.com the whole idea is that you play this word game and for each turn you get right they donate ten grains of rice to the third world. After playing for a short while and realising that my vocabulary is vastly better than I previously thought I began to ponder how much rice I was actually donating. I googled about for a while and came across this answer to the question of how many grains of rice to a pound in weight. The answer given was over 29,000 individual grains and thats long grain rice at that, the free rice program doesn’t say what type of rice it is they are donating however I feel it would be splitting hairs if I were to allow this to become a stumbling block to my charitable thoughts. If there are to be 29,000 individual grains to a pound, I have decided that I will donate 25 kilos, of course I decided this number as it is a traditional weight used for bulk packets or at least thats the size I saw most when such things where bought in the kitchen I used to work in. Well 25 kilos is 55 pounds, roughly, which equates to 1,595,000 grains of rice. It seems I am going to be up a long while playing this word game. I shall let you know how it works out… this is going to be impossible, I think you should help ![]()
