Felt Tip Pen Art

Daniel Eatock: Felt Tip Print.

With some modern art I find it difficult to find the line between what is in fact art and what is just a broke toilet seat sat in amongst a pile of bricks, it is that blured that on my last visit to the Tate Modern in London I ended up wondering around a dark room with nothing but canvases painted red adorning the walls about me. This however does not, I believe fall into that grey area and is in-face quite an interesting piece. However beyond being something that is pretty to look at what makes it different than the coffee stain sat looking at me on this table. One answer to this is through the technique used by Daniel Eatock the artist whom authored this interesting piece. Eatock used a selection of different coloured Pantone pens aranged in what appears to be a random patern nib side up, upon which he rested a A1piece of paper which slowly soaked up the ink producing the colourful dots. He moved the paper about, turning and twisting it until eventually he decided for some unknown reason that it was finished. You can see a bigger version of the above plus some “in the making” photos here.
