The above is just one example of the high quality “self fashion portraits” that can be browsed on the website lookbook.nu. I am surprised that I had missed this seemingly busy online community for so long, the fact that its entire theme is a subject I am interested in makes me begin to question what I actually spend all this time on the Internet “researching”, that can be another post itself. If flickr is the online community for photographers then lookbook.nu is the community for fashion students and those who love the clothes they wear. While there is an entire community within photography based communities doing the same thing, it looks like lookbook.nu gives them an ultimate home with features to match their needs. In essence it looks like a community blog, especially when you view the new page as it gives the latest entries by every member in much the same style as a blog would, the front page is similar however entries are ordered by how much “hype” they have. The “hype” system appears to be the same type system that digg use to vote entries to the front page however the distinct difference is that there appear to be a wider variety of authors making the front page unlike digg with its regular faces.
The above photo is one from Erika’s collection, I chose to show it here as it is a very good example of the quality shown on lookbook.nu, while Erika is one of the extremely talented on the site the quality of clothing style and the vogue magazine page framing of her photos are similar site wide. I would say that if your interested in modern fashion, researching into what the latest generation think is “cool” or just like looking at well composed fashion photography then I would recommend you visit the lookbook community.
