I don’t know if this was a wallpaper to begin with or indeed where the original source is however I found it linked to on tumblr and it made me smile so I thought it would be my responsibility to pass that smile on and make someone else’s day a little brighter. It looks like Zelda has got the wrong end of the stick when told to grab a heart.

I have been looking around for some interesting cards to send people this Christmas and although Miro Chun has made some for Halloween there are as yet none for this coming Christmas. I got in touch via email and Miro let me know that there are some Christmas themed cards in the pipeline and that they should be up in time for this Christmas. Every once in a while I come across an art project which is both clever and daring both in its design and execution. While to the un-trained eye the above stamps look like any other special edition design it has in fact been hand crafted by Carol Stream for Michael Henandez’s deLuna Stamps project. This project involved several artists creating their own stamp designs based around different themes and then sending a letter to the project destination to see if it got there. Many did and the above is just one example of a variety of provocative imagery which adorned the stamps, go and see Michael Henadez’s deLuna Stamps project for more photos and information.

The above is just one of many pieces from Roger Arquer’s 2006 work called Fish Bowls; the entire series which Roger painstakenly made by hand, are intended to show different relationships between certain beings, items and connotations from there-of. Take the above image for example, does it not question the relationship between a big and small fish living together? Or instead of questioning it, simply explain it withing as compressed a form as we can understand? I love the above fishbowl for that very reason, its private spaces, its visible seperation; however set up it may be by the photographer and artist it speaks on many levels about several issues without really settling upon one.

The seccond was this illustration of a fish submitted by chris with a twist linking it to sushi, I like sushi so this appealed to me. The quality of the design is outstanding and I believe I have seen it sold printed on t-shirts, either that or something remarkably similar – in any case this is of good enough quality that I would think twice about not buying it.

This third one again submitted by chris has similarities to artwork I have previously shown on photogabble in respect to the fact that it is knitted. Finally this knitted piece leads me to another knitted delicacy – knitted sushi – which at a guess was created by the same artist however this time submitted by a different member.

I have just been browsing through some of my draft posts and came across this post saved from October last year it made me smile so I thought it about time to post. Posts from October 2008 being published in April 2009; shows how behind on blogging I am, ha ha.

The above is a beautiful computer visualization produced by the German digital artist Artur Neufeld for the online boutique art community Evoke. Neufeld like myself is self taught in 3D graphics however unlike myself he is incredibly good at what he does. I really like the textures within this piece and would be interested in a tutorial on how to make that fuzzy grass texture.

Get’em ‘fore they’re gone, the above, is part of a 2007 exhibition by Timothy Jhon Berg. What I find really interesting about this is the fact that it’s larger than life size and to that point makes it more than just a moulding of a choc-ice. I could go on and on about the connotations about consumerism and how we are running out of resources but honestly that’s not why I want this or a good copy of this on my wall, the reason behind that is because it is different and indeed does have several meanings which would be good conversation starters if ever I get round to owning a living room big enough to play host to such nice art.

The guys over at chinnychinchin.net have produced an amazing collection of collectibles, the Urban Collectibles including the petrol bombed jeep (shown above), the Joy-Ridden-2-door hatchback and the mini-van/insurance scam. Each of what looks like a children’s toy car shown daddy’s blow torch with amazing effect can be bought from the chinychinchin online shop for just $49.95, that is just 5 cents off $50 which is a lot of money depending on how their value increases over the next decade or two. Considering that they are each very unique I can’t see their value decreasing to be honest and if I had $150 to burn I would be tempted to spend it on these.
