So it is a new year, I wonder how many people feel that it is any different to the last because honestly saying that things will be better this week than the last just once a year feels a little stupid to me. It is a new year, new in the sense that we have begun another circle of the sun but in reality the first of January felt no different than the last day of December – unless you woke up with a hang over; in that case silly you.

There is too much emphasis put on New Year celebrations however from watching the fireworks live on BBC News 24 all I can say is what an anti-climax. This years celebrations where half-arsed to put it plainly there did not appear to be much in the way of celebration and those who where seen on the cameras being interviewed just weren’t all that cheerfull. Even the presenter found it difficult to come up with anything to say while the fireworks went off making the effort too say how long it took for the scene to be set up on the London Eye. I don’t know why I expected any different maybe becase the 2007 celebrations where quite a bit more entertaining than five minutes of bangs and a half interested reporters mutterings.

Then again we are facing a huge economic crash people saw it coming a mile off like a giant super-tanker about to crash on a paradise island – something could have been done but people where too happy to over-indulge and further screw up what little was left of the financial system to do anything about it. The problem there was ignorance and greed by a few and unfortunately we all have to pay the price for it, Woolworths have died a tragic death and now many other high-street brands are disappearing leaving a lot of smaller towns and city’s without valuable sources of children’s toys and clothes (in the case of Woolworths disappearing from Sittingbourne) or other commodities which people in such situations are having to more and more source from the internet – if they first have access to it and second knowledge to use it within that context. The economic crash isn’t just worrying because of the loss of big high street brands from rural high streets there is the loss of jobs which come as a result of it and the social unrest as a result of that. On top of all this there are the students to worry about, as with the banks tightening their belts students are less likely to be given credit thus student accounts and large interest free overdrafts dissapearing the scene leaving many British students with the conundrum of finding a job, keeping that job and working full-time/part-time to just keep afloat.

With a huge economic crash comes the recent problems in the Middle East with Israel attacking the Gaza Strip and causing world wide outrage not to mention the huge humanitarian crisis in the Strip which is worsening by the hour. It is hard to ignore that while both sides are attempting to utilize the worlds media to gain positive propaganda – both sides are in the wrong and have undertaken in unethical practices which need to be addressed.

So it most definitely is not a “happy” new year, it is a 2009 for what that is worth and it has for the most part not started well. All I can hope for is that the banking crisis gets sorted out and politicians stop pretending to be economists, students get recognised for the valuable resource that they are, Obama does some amazing things within his first 100 days as Americas first leader in a long time and that Israel begins to understand the serious implications its actions have and to that point all I have to say is I hope you had a nice new year; mine was.

Many in the green scene believe quite rightly in most cases that the words eco friendly and motor vehicle can not be married in the same sentence unless that particular mode of transport uses renewal’s such as fuel cells or electricity. However in our world of rising fuel costs and a more environment conscious society the car manufacturers have begun to, albeit slowly, bring about more and more environmentally friendly cars that are also light on the consumers pockets when it comes to fuel costs. The most environmentally friendly of these – the number one best eco friendly car in my eyes, is the Volkswagen Polo Blue Motion. This car is powered by a 1.4litre diesel engine however it manages to travel almost double the distance on one gallon of diesel than a 2008 edition of the 1litre petrol powered Vauxhal Corsa (the latest edition of my current car) in addition to this when you use the higher octane diesel that the engine is better designed to burn you’re offered an amazing 88.3mpg performance which many will agree is a figure worth noting when looking for a new car.

On top of the cars amazing performance when it comes to fuel economy, its emissions are below 100g/km for Carbon Dioxide and below 0.2g/km for Carbon Monoxide the two key global warming emissions from motor transport, this not only gives the driver an (admittedly snobbish) knowledge that they are harming the environment less than their fellow drivers they also are exempt from paying road tax as their vehicle falls into the governments VED band of A while most other cars fall into band C paying £120/year for road tax.

This tax break thanks to its low emissions and the typical cost of just £683 per 12,000 miles thanks to its fuel economy should make this car an interesting investment for any new car buyer who is both environment conscious and on a budget. It also looks really nice not only externally but internally too (click image for enlarged view).

However there are as with everything a couple of downsides worth noting, its 0-60mph performance is not too nippy at just over 12 seconds also you loose the air conditioning, electric mirrors and remote central locking. These have all been lost to reduce weight and thus make the car more economic, however given the choice between this car and one similarly priced with 60mpg performance and all the luxury add ons I can see people making the later choice just for the convenience. Priced at around £12,000 the Bluemotion is in the similar price band to these other choices however for me the saving of £120 a year in road tax and the fuel economy saving hundreds more makes it almost worth the price.

The Volkswagen Polo Blue Motion is a good first step by a car manufactur into the low emmissions, high efficiency vehicle market and while I am not in a financial position to buy one now in a couple of years down the road it will be first on my list of cars to look into and I can only foresee it getting even better by then.

Edit: Just a quick note this post on a car forum has stated that the car will have a 45litre tank giving it a theoretical range of 710miles. Across the road from me shell are selling diesel at £1.229 (29/11/08) so to run the car for 710miles it just costs £55 (Possibly £60 as that’s the price for normal diesel), a huge improvement on my 51 reg Vauhal Corsa which does an average of 400 miles on the same tank of petrol.

Well it would seem that after a bit of persuasion we are following the other long term Eclipse customers and jumping ship. The only problem we have is that we have the server at home and sometimes can pass a huge amount of bandwidth as I pass huge backup files to and from my server when I am away at university. A little more googling found this forum posting on money-supermarket, it all appears to be praising Eclipse for great service, something I myself did almost three years ago but as you scroll down to the newer postings things change and the same complaints I quoted yesterday occur with more frequency.

An interesting thing to note however is that ping latency usually, even when it appears that the connection is being restricted, often never reach higher than 80ms. Also while the download speed, which should be around 3Mbit (on an 8Mbit connection almost three miles from the exchange) drops to the 56k speeds its been doing recently, the upstream rate has stayed at a constant 550Kbit (See graph above). If there where a fault on the line or as several people have stated too much strain on the copper wire I would be seeing correlation between the upstream and the downstream, something that the above graph obviously shows as not happening. Please note that the spikes in speed are from tests ran during early morning 1am to 6am, speed tests where ran using the thinkbroadband.com speed test tool.

As I write this the connection speed appears to be ok and I’m getting a constant 3Mbit connection at the moment, if you google for any broadband package your bound to find some chaff in with the wheat and it could just be that eclipse had a bad few days. However I shall continue to monitor the connection and post a further update is one is needed.

For the past several years my family has been a customer of Eclipse Broadband, and up until I went to university three years ago we had, had no problem with them as they provided a very reliable, cheap and quick connection. However for one reason or another this has all changed over the past three years. I began to notice several outages of service even though I was at university because photogabble is hosted on my server at home, then came the speed differences so far as the server was involved this didn’t cause a problem due to no restrictions effecting upload speed, however download speeds had all but reduced to nothing during the day and only became slightly acceptable during the night. This has done nothing but worsened over the past three months, I have indeed noticed that during the day the connection we retrieve is less than 512Kbit and right now it’s less reliable than a 22K modem connection! I am currently downloading new nvidia drivers for my graphics card at no more than 2.5KB/s for an apparently 8Mbit connection this is terrible service. Due to the recent degradation of service over the past three days I have taken to searching the internet for reviews on Eclipse Broadband to be confronted by negative review after negative review such as:

Don’t go anywhere near Eclipse if you ever want to download. Doesn’t matter if you have the top end unlimited package. Eclipse throttle ALL downloads. – Vambo

At 3am I can get a good 375kbs but at any normal time of the day I’m lucky to get around 50kbs. avoid them like the plague. – Not a Happy Man

Internet access is a total lottery and download speeds are pathetic. – Gabby

They still can’t get their act together to send an accurate final bill. I do not recommend Eclipse Internet Broadband. Ever. - Afmspace

Phoned their IT department to try and sort out the problems and in my opinion they were useless. - mdyches

Even though an unlimited, 8MB connection is promised, I continuously find it hard to reach a speed of 512kb - chimp14uk

So it appears i’m not alone, a large collection of bad reviews all documenting similar problems of poor service and terrible support. Unfortunately the broadband is paid for by parents as i’m staying at theirs for the summer and there is nothing I can do other than weather it out as they appear to be quite happy with it even with mine and my sisters complaints. While at university I have used ask4 and virgin broadband, both delivered me full 20Mbit broadband with no problems, we had one disruption with the virgin broadband and within a couple of hours of our call it was fixed I hate to imagine how long its taken eclipse to fix outages proof of their slowness is just a google away. Anyway less of the ranting, i’m off to look for an effective broadband package for going back to uni and possibly my own mobile broadband package for when at home.

So it is finally here, after months of hard work and caffeine consumption the wordpress dev team have come up with an amazing product. If those of you have been wondering what has become of my wordpress to tumblr and zenphoto plugin updates the reason why you have heard nothing is because I had been waiting for the release of 2.5 to save me working on code that might become redundant with this new release. I now have it installed on my test server and have been playing with things, mostly breaking things but its all part of the learning curve. Once I finish all my university work I shall get down to finishing up those two plugins I just hope it wont be too late causing me to loose my grip on the community.

As far as work goes I am happily plodding on with university projects. I have my final project to get done which is the front end of an online shop it has proven to be the biggest design job I have ever undertaken and as it is a major part of my degree I am excited that the amount of work I have done for it will be rewarded with a high grade. You wouldn’t believe the amount of paper work I have done for this thing! Other than that I have two papers to write, on on the status of television and another on how we have become a culture of fear dominated by a government manipulating that fear to its own ends for “our own good”. It is an issue I have a great deal of knowledge in and if you can talk for hours about a subject then writing an essay on it is going to be second nature.

Anyways I thought I owed people a little update on happenings, bbs.

After leaving my parents and spending a couple of days in Cardiff with Judy staying over at Helen’s with a bunch of other people I am finally back in Coventry but it seems a little empty all of a sudden. While at Helen’s she showed us all this pen she had found which is absolutely fantastic to draw with. It reminds me of traditional Japanese ink work however instead of using Indian ink and a brush it’s all contained within this pen. A lot of people there instantly wanted one but it seems the company producing them doesn’t sell outside of Japan. I hope Helen gets enough interest locally to warrant a bulk order so we can have some over here.

Initially the below caught my eye because of its uniqueness causing it to stand out from the rest of the images on ffffound.com. However as I dug through the trail of links to find its source I became increasingly interested in Charles Kraffts other works, which can be seen for sale here, most notably the collection of guns and other WWII weaponry he has reproduced in detail to a traditional Victorian painted Porcelain aesthetic. Unfortunately for anyone wishing to purchase one of his works, especially the weapon related ones will be disappointed to find that they are all but sold out and I presume a unique piece themselves warranting the grand price tag attached. If I had the money I would really have wished to have been able to purchase one of his works pictured below, I can just see it now hung on my wall. Isn’t it odd how something designed to kill and destroy can be made to look so beautiful and attractive?

These graphs are not simply aesthetically beautiful a lot of them would I think pose a significant interest to linguists based upon their nature of showing linked words in texts. The one which caught my eye is the below Bible Visulisation, both examples I have chosen to show here explain visually although not in any extensive usefulness, how much information is actually within the Bible through showing the cross-referencing of words and names within. I think they are not only a wonderful example of the beauty which algorithms can produce but from a design and typography standpoint they are exceedingly intriguing. If you like what you see below I would recommend that you see more at Chris Harrisons’ website.

Very recently I have been shown a some what new micro-format called tumblr, it’s basically an online service where simple blogs are hosted based around the basic prospect of posting content under the following media categories: Text, Photo, Quote, Link, Chat, Audio and Video. Many of the tumblrs I have visited are an informal affair quite different to the carefully thought out and planned posts to be found in typical blogs, this makes for easy viewing as they are mostly made up of images with comments, quotes, interesting links with little commentary, funny lines from chat logs and the odd mp3 and video to listen to and watch. This is all well and good and actually something I have enjoyed being a part of however there is just one nagging problem I have with tumblr and that is its appalling RSS feed syndication support.

I like all my content to be based in one location and that location is photogabble, this is why I don’t use flickr or any other sort of community thing to publish my work through (other than deviantart). As you can guess this also means that although I really like being part of the tumblr community, I’d rather not have my content be just there and syndicated on photogabble. Instead I have opted for creating a new category called tumblrs on here and syndicated that feed on tumblr a feature which upon realising, I was very pleased and impressed with. However there are two problems with tumblrs’ feeds both with production and syndication. Impressively it can import any RSS feed you give it with the following fixed settings: Import as links, links with description, text without titles or photos. Initially I can see one distinct problem with that listing, the lack of importing text with titles however I looked beyond this and tried it out. This is where I hit a snag, one would expect that if you asked tumblr to import text without titles then it would import everything from the
<content:encoded>
tag and ignore the rest. Retrospectively upon selecting to import as links with description I would expect it to import the
<title>
and
<description>
tags, I suppose in that case it probably is what happens however my biggest problem with tumblrs syndication is that when I choose import text without titles it doesn’t collect from the content tag, rather choosing to stick with the description tag which makes absolutely no sense at all because the description is truncated at a certain word length and with no link back to the original all I’m going to get on my tumblr is a bunch of half posts with no link to source.

You may well realise that this is a huge problem and one which should be remedied, however my second problem with tumblrs’ feeds is with the production as they just don’t validate and make it very difficult for me to write a script plugin for wordpress so I can import all my tumblrs from tumblr and place them in my tumblrs category here, a method which would give me greater control over my content even though it would mean having to publish from the tumblr dashboard rather than all (blog and tumblrs) from the wordpress dashboard.

Lastly I believe my love affair with tumblr could become solidified if the ability to import text with titles was introduced and this bug of importing descriptions rather than content where to be fixed. Other than that it is an amazing service with a awesome user base to which I have no further disagreements with.

The below is an essay I wrote on gender and race within cyberspace and how anonymity plays a role in provoking the emergence of basic human reflexes (the if you don’t think you can be caught you will say anything, trend).

Critically consider gender and ‘race’ in cyberspace.
Gender, ‘race’ and identity within the online domain.

The world we live in today has gone far beyond the global village envisioned by Marshall McLuhan in the late 1960s (McLuhan and Fiore,. 1967). Technology has merged with the real world enabling people from anywhere on Earth to meet and interact with each other in a virtual domain. This domain has been built upon the existing telecommunications structure which was available in McLuhan’s times, and has duly been named as cyberspace. Within the domain of the real, individuals strive to different themselves from other individuals, or “the other”. This is done through a process of being oppressed and being the oppressor, a process which mass media uses to its own advantage in manipulating individuals into buying commodities so as to buy into an image and a lifestyle they want, which inevitably leaves them wanting for more.

Nature has given us physical distinctions which allow individuals to group together; the main two distinctive properties are physical being gender and ‘race’. Race is often denoted primarily by skin colour and bone structure however there are also cultural manifestations which can be stereotyped to different races, for example the voodoo religion, cannibalism and reggae music all bring up connotations of black skin. It is these physical distinctions which allow individuals to identify themselves from “the other” not just purely by gender or race, but also by society. Unfortunately within the real domain these identifiers often result in the emergence of social problems such as racism, sexism and incorrect stereotyping. One example of this can be seen within orientalism; this is because the west through western cultural artifacts perceives the east in a completely different way to what is actually real. When asked to visualize an eastern country such as China, an individual from the west would most likely conjure up images of traditional Chinese dress and architecture; images, which may have only ever been witnessed from the mass media. It is this social stereotyping which defines us from them using the social function of we don’t do that, while they do therefore we are different to them. Even though the real world distinctions can vary hugely from the stereotype; the east play up to the western perception by putting on elaborate traditional shows for our mass media to bear witness to when our politicians and other dignitaries visit, it is a completely different matter when it is one of their own who is visiting but the western media doesn’t tend to publicize that fact and thus allowing the western stereotype of the east to prevail. It would be interesting to question why the east allows this to happen but that is a question which is beyond the scope of this paper.

It is interesting to consider gender and race within cyberspace due to the very mechanism which makes cyberspace what it is: simulation. Baudrillard interestingly enough never discussed the Internet however he did write at length about hyper-reality and it is his description of this mechanism which reminds me of the virtual domain. This is most notably because cyberspace is indeed a copy of the real within a virtual domain, a place where an individual’s need for stimulation is met with virtual manifestations of the real thing. However due to the Internet’s inherent anonymity nothing can be taken at face value as everything can be falsified. Within the real domain such features as gender and race are physically built into everyone’s genetics; you’re either born male or female and this can’t be changed. It can be argued that there are those who have been born with male genitalia, male genetics and who have through some bizarre fault of nature a female brain and likewise for females with male brains. In cases such as these it is a long and difficult irreversible process to cosmetically “fix” things with Sex Reassignment Surgery (SRS), however in cyberspace such a transformation is as easy as clicking a button or simply saying your female.

Most online communities¬1 ask you to identify yourself by a nickname or online handle, while they also tend to request you confirm that you’re either male or female. Something interesting to note is that with many communities within cyberspace an individual can’t change their nickname while they can change their gender, while in the real domain it is much easier to change a name than it is to go through re-constructive surgery to change gender.

This gender morphing within cyberspace is an interesting area of investigation as identities within cyberspace need not provide a gender to exist and can as a result be completely genderless, where as within the real domain loose physical identifiers allow others to identify individuals as either male or female. Within the virtual domain individuals are open to choose for themselves how they wish to be seen, they have no body there and therefore no one need to know their corporeal bodies gender thus they can become anything or anyone they want to become. This cyber-ability to hide gender would be useful within certain real domain situations, at least for women where being female can put them in danger (M. J. McAdams, 1996) however it would also raise serious moral questions if indeed individuals had the ability to at a whim gender morph. One has to ask however whether those moral questions would still arise in a world where everyone was genderless at birth, fortunately the answer can be seen within cyberspace during the interactions between genderless identities inside their cyberculture where gender isn’t seen to be so much a defining factor as it is within the real domain.

The online role playing game “World of Warcraft” gives its players the ability to “physically” set their gender, physical appearance and race. The player can then project themselves upon that body, their real identities are unverifiable and it’s impossible to tell if a character’s description matches a player’s physical characteristics (Lisa, Nakamura., n/a). Within the virtual world of the game a cyberculture interacts with itself as players play a game of theatrics, often resulting in enjoyment for both themselves and the individuals their character interacts with.

“The social construction for the body becomes clear in cyberspace, where every identity is represented, rather than ‘real’. The consensus of cyberspace is a precarious one; identification is entirely contingent, based on a consensual agreement to take one’s word for it.” (W, Texter,. 1996).

Texter suggests that an individuals identity within cyberspace is often about offering up a projection of self upon a virtual body, which in essence means that by removing the visual cues that partly gender us, the Internet opens up possibilities for experimentation and play within existing manifestations of subjectivity (S, Spittle,. n/a). Thus males can experiment with the idea of being perceived by “the other” within cyberspace as female, and likewise for their female counterparts, however one must criticize the model behind which gender is based.

“As soon as behavior is focused on certain operational screens or terminals, the rest appears as some vast, useless body, which has been both abandoned and condemned. The real itself appears as a large, futile body.” (Baudrillard, 1988)

Cyberspace has in Baudrilliarian terms acted as an extension of the human mind, while amputating individuals from what is real and their corporeal state. They are therefore left as virtual beings consuming information which has no meaning because it has been “dislocated from its referential universe” (S, Spittle,. n/a) due to this both gender and race within the virtual domain become meaningless as one can have more than one of each in cyberspace.

As mentioned earlier gender and race within the real world is fixed at birth (unlike the genderless masses within cyberspace), therefore there is something which innately makes us who we are even though social conditioning has a part to play. I agree with Texter, that an individual does project who they are upon a virtual representation of themselves within cyberspace; however if the body is female, isn’t the mind also female? (M. J. McAdams,. 1996) and with respect to gender within cyberspace shouldn’t it be identifiable simply by how their personality is perceived regardless of whether that is contrary to the identity and gender they have constructed. This argument can be criticized by noting that a heterosexual male passing himself off as a female within cyberspace is able to keep the illusion of gender so long as he passes himself off as a homosexual female; social conditioning will lead other individuals whom he interacts with through cyberspace to not question any masculinity which emanates from his interaction with them. As a further criticism, within the real domain you have metrosexuals as a result of post modernity and the emasculation of males within modern society. Would it not be easy for these individuals to pass themselves off as heterosexual females in the virtual domain? The answer is yes, as through social stereotyping within the real domain we are taught that if something sounds like a duck and looks like a duck then it is not a cow. The same method applies to the virtual domain because it is a “hyper real” copy of the real domain; however within which something can look like a duck and sound like a duck, while having the corporeal body of a cow.

The Utopian world of cyberspace is still a construction of the real and although it is a simulation even a Baudrillian “hyper reality” it has still been formed and shaped profoundly by influences within the real world brought to it via individuals interacting within it. This means that cyberculture has been shaped by those who interact within it. This is fundamental to the identity of race on the Internet as most the worlds computers are owned by White, middle class citizens therefore one would conclude that they have brought their “cultural and social baggage with them” (S, Spittle,. n/a). Existing social problems such as structures of inequality have been inherited within cyberspace including both race and gender and the prejustices which are inherent within western society. This can be seen within the extreme when an individuals identity is completely stripped away to leave them as “anonymous”.

It would appear than when all possible form of identity is removed from an individual they are given a sense that they can say and do within the virtual domain of cyberspace what they want without fear of social repercussions. This inevitably brings to the surface some of societies ugly problems and as an example I shall use 4chan.org2. Within 4chan there are several image boards where individuals may post images and comment on them, most boards have rules and regulations which posters tend to abide by else they get banned. However the focus of this discussion isn’t on those boards, but the Random board known as “/b/”. Within this board total anonymity plus zero enforced rules gives rise to every negative social condition being constructed within conversations. Racism and sexism seem little in comparison to other subjects within the room which include rape and suicide (sometimes both). A lot of what is said within the /b/ forum would shock anyone within the real world; however cyberspace has given these individuals the ability to voice their opinions without fear of reprisal. It could be argued that its better they do so there than in the real domain, however if cyberspace is indeed a simulation of the real then the conclusion is a shocking and scary one. /b/ is a manifestation of everything which is wrong with the world, gender and race have no place there as every user is anonymous3 however gender and race based issues are still brought up usually as a mode of shocking other individuals.

“Given that the boundaries between the natural and the technological have collapsed, then so have the assumptions that cluster around these terms. For instance. The belief that women are ‘naturally’ passive, submissive and nurturing can no longer be sustained in the era of the cyborg. The cyborg displays a ‘polymorphous perversity (Haraway in Kunzru,. 1997), and in conjunction with technology constructs identity, sexuality and gender as it pleases.” (S, Spittle,. n/a)

I agree with Spittle’s distinction between cyberspace and the real; indeed individuals have become cyborgs immersed every day in the cyberspace world. Gender and race have been abolished within cyberspace as everyone is born genderless there. The real world stereotype of what a woman or a man should be are turned on their heads in cyberspace as men can project themselves as woman and woman likewise as men; cows literally are quacking. Race has also been abolished in the cyber domain as unless an individual shows an image of themselves their skin colour is an unknown, and tends to remain that way. Although within many manifestations of cyberspace such as multi-player role playing games, individuals can not only play as another gender to themselves but also as a completely different species. Lisa Nakamura described this behavior as Identity Tourism; a term which I believe fits the description, anyone can construct an identity within cyberspace and “feel” what it is like to live as that identity within a simulation of the real. Predefined social stereotyping which is carried into cyberspace from the real world as extra baggage by individuals adds extra realism to the simulation by providing real world social interactions within cyberculture.

In conclusion, cyberspace can be seen as a hyper reality within which everything is a virtual copy of the real within a simulation. Recent technological advancements have meant that everyone has access to cyberspace within which on birth individuals become genderless projections of themselves, free to construct as it pleases them, their own identity, sexuality and gender. World of Warcraft and other online games such as Habbo Hotel allow individuals to do this by giving them the ability to mould their character as they will. Within chat rooms and forums Texter’s analysis becomes clear: that nothing is how it appears in cyberspace, so you must either take things at face value or with a pinch of salt.

Notes:

1. This can be seen within the biggest online communities. During my research I discovered that both deviantart.com and myspace.com allow a user to change their gender in the settings, while not allowing nickname change (they both allow real name change however, and myspace does allow for a certain degree of change although the link to the individuals page can not be changed after creation, same as with deviantart.)
2. 4chan is seen to be one of a few of the nastiest websites on earth by many. It is an anonymous forum where people may post pictures and related discussion. There are in fact several nice “work friendly” boards however my example is based around the actions of the Random forum also known as “/b/” by its users. It is here where there are no rules, and in it’s past some users have been arrested by the F.B.I for various actions, thus it is a board which has the American (and no doubt British) intelligent services eyes watching.
3. For good reason too, as noted in point two that the government keeps a close eye on the “chan boards.” If by chance individuals on /b/ find out personal information on someone they band together to cause as much damage as possible. Thus it is frowned upon on the board to do something so silly as give any real details.
4. Habbo Hotel (www.habbohotel.com) is an online chat room where individuals upon signing up can choose their appearance, gender, and name. Everything apart from their name can be changed at will. The chat rooms themselves are 2D representations of 3D rooms in isometric style, where each member can walk about and explore the hotel.
