It would appear that this photo of Helen Bunney taken in 1957 by photographer John French is a bit of an enigma to the online community, not only is there few details floating about but I have yet to see another photo of this beautiful lady anywhere within the virtual domain – something that is often unheard of. Indeed if you place a search on google image for Helen Bunney you will find nothing but unrelated images and the above photo replicated multiple times, interestingly while there is a lot of information on John French and his photography a lot of it has been overlooked by the greater photography community.
This is something I shall be looking into and writing about later this month.
Hi there,
Helen Bunney is my Mum! – there is no copyright on existing images so they are constantly popping up all over the place – on cards and magazines etc. She was married to photographer Michael Williams (Terence Donvan trained under him) – thier engagement announced in the national press – top model marrying top London photographer of the time! She had a great career but never really took it very seriously having trained at college as a dressmaker. We have loadsof images / copies of magazines she was in but alot of the negative’s of my Dad’s were destroyed years ago when he used to have routine clear outs. After my Dad died I was really keen to somehow put a n exhibition together but it hasn’t happened yet – he was a successful photographer for over 30 years and his work spanned from fashion in the late 50′s & 60′s through to advertising and feature pieces in Harpers & Queen into the 80′s….
