WordPress Tumblr Plugin [Update]

I finished the beta of my tumblr plugin last night and right now it does exactly what I want it to do, that is to publish text posts from my wordpress blog placed in a tumblr category to tumblr as basic posts. I have seen some interest on other peoples blogs for a plugin that does similar and so I have decided to finish it by the end of the week and publish it. However I have also seen a lot of requests for a plugin which imports from tumblr and places those posts within your wordpress blog in such a way that they can be custom formatted, this is a much more in depth plugin to write and I may if I can see an increased interest write one that does just that. For the time being though, I feel that releasing my current plugin will be good enough. At least it does what I want.

I would pay dearly for a solution that would take my 12 months of Tumblr content and bring it into my new WordPress blog. There seems to be absolutely no solution out there to do this and it’s very frustrating. The RSS feed would be great except that tumblr only includes the last 20 posts, not all that useful if you have more then that.

If you are really desperate, you could import them in steps:

-load last 20 posts by RSS
    -delete last 20 posts
    -repeat
    :)

  3. I have the same problem and the only semi-decent idea to use tumblr to write and put my stuff I came up with is to use the reblog plugin for WordPress and catch the tumblelogs RSS feed. But, as mentioned that only works for post I write from now on…

  4. Scribu: That is a bloody GENIUS idea. You deserve a medal for that bit of lateral thinking.

  7. Hi everyone. I don’t know what the state of tumblr-wordpress is, but I wrote an upgrade to a plugin that sounds very much like this one. In case you are interested in having a look, it is version 1.3.2 of Tumblrize. The previous version I wrote, Tumblrize 1.3, is also available on the WordPress plugin directory.
